Dangerous Dogs Attacks Increase In Severity And Frequency

Hardly a week goes by than the media is reporting on dog attacks on postal workers, delivery workers, children and indeed adults. Some of these episodes of Dangerous Dog Attacks, have resulted in deaths and serious injuries.

In particular, the Daily Mirror has been investigating dog attacks on postal workers and carrying out a number of interviews with the CWU's National Health & Safety Officer, Dave Joyce and some of the Union's members who have been recent victims.

'Following an upsurge in the number of serious injury dog attacks on our members and the public including a number of recent fatal dog attacks on members of the public, the Daily Mirror has been investigating dog attacks on postal workers and carrying out a number of interviews with myself and some of our members who have been recent victims.

The Daily Mirror inform me that the story will be published in tomorrow’s edition of the Newspaper and I’m writing out to inform you of this. I only hope the story is comprehensive and hard hitting, supporting the CWU case.

I have recently written, in detail, to the Government Minister responsible for Dog control George Eustice DEFRA Secretary of State, calling for a meeting to discuss further law changes and better enforcement of the Dangerous Dogs Act by Police, CPS plus harsher punishment by the Courts. I will keep you all updated on this.'
